In 2023/24, Leeds began their first season back in the Championship since 2019/20 following three seasons in the Premier League. This is the club's 97th league campaign (excluding the War Years which are not widely recognised as competitive seasons).
Leeds appointed Daniel Farke as the club's first team manager on 4 July 2023 and signed a four-year deal until 2027. Farke took charge of his first season at the club, and after a slow start which saw the club pick up just 2 points from our opening three matches. Leeds began to pick up momentum and consistency climbing the Championship ladder in the top six. By February 2024, Daniel Farke's side were beginning to mount a title charge after putting together a joint-club record winning run of 9 consecutive league wins for the first time since 1931 under Dick Ray. Daniel Farke became the first Leeds United manager to win three Championship Manager of the Month awards in his debut season.
Despite an phenomenal run of form in 2024, Leeds lost four our last six league matches and ended the season finishing third with 90 points, and became the first side to reach the 90-point margin and fail to finish in the top two since the start of the Championship's current format in 2004/05). Leeds reached the play-off final after defeating Norwich City 4-0 on aggregate before losing 1-0 against Southampton at Wembley in the play-off final.
